Dr. Melinda Wilkins, director of the Online Master of Science in Food Safety Program and assistant professor in the Department of Large Animals Clinical Sciences, is one of 18 newly appointed members to the Public Health Advisory Commission. Governor Rick Snyder announced last week that the 24 member commission will assess the current public health service delivery system in Michigan at local and state levels, and provide a final report for the governor’s consideration by April 1, 2017.

Included in that assessment will be a review of the organization of public health functions in state-wide executive departments, the division of responsibilities between state and local public health authorities, and the regulatory framework established by Public Health Code, 1978 PA 368.
