Featuring Dalen Agnew, Harold Schott

On February 24, two College faculty—Dr. Dalen Agnew, chair and professor for the Department of Pathobiology and Diagnostic Investigation, and Dr. Harold Schott, professor for the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences—were honored with team-based awards at the 2021 MSU Outreach and Engagement Awards Ceremony.

Agnew and his collaborator team at Potter Park Zoo were presented with the 2021 Distinguished Partnership Award for Community-Engaged Research for their project “A Half-Century of Collaboration in Animal Health Education, Research, and Outreach.” Schott and his collaborator faculty from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and Universidad Veracruzana were presented with the 2021 Distinguished Partnership Award for Community-Engaged Teaching for their project “Equine Welfare in Practice Clinical Clerkship for 3rd and 4th Year College of Veterinary Medicine Professional Students.”

“Winners of these awards show true dedication to MSU values, both by generating new scientific knowledge through research and by sharing knowledge and service with others. The fact that this year, our own faculty received two of the six possible awards that were presented shows our College’s commitment to engaged scholarship and community collaboration,” says Dr. Birgit Puschner, dean for the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine.
