Dr. Bartolomeo Gorgoglione, principal investigator of the Fish Pathobiology & Immunology Laboratory in the department of Pathobiology and Diagnostic Investigation, recently traveled to Southeast Asia. He was invited by Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand to chair, as the external examiner, the thesis defense of the PhD student Puntanat Tattiyapong, who was hosted at MSU from March to November of 2023. While there, Gorgoglione delivered several guest lectures in Thailand and Indonesia and shared information about MSU’s international exchange program opportunities.
In his free time, Gorgoglione was able to check out various tourist attractions and try some local cuisine. In Thailand, he visited the ruins of the old city Ayutthaya, cruised on the Chao Phraya River, and saw many Buddhist temples, such as Wat Arun, or “Temple of Dawn.” In Indonesia, he enjoyed walking around in Jakarta, and especially appreciated seeing the place where the Istiqlal Mosque (the largest mosque in Southeast Asia) and a majestic neo-gothic Roman Catholic cathedral face each other.
Here are some photos from Gorgoglione’s travels!
