The Michigan Veterinary Medical Association's highest honor recognizes a lifetime of service and achievement
Janver D Krehbiel, DVM, MS ('68), PhD ('72), DACVP, received the 2014 MVMA Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2014 Michigan Veterinary Conference in late January. The Award is the highest honor presented to veterinary professionals by the MVMA.
During more than 45 years at Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Krehbiel served as the acting director of the international program, senior associate dean for administration, and associate dean for academic programs. During his tenure, he also served as director of the clinical pathology laboratory, was acting and associate chair of the Department of Pathology, and served as acting dean.
Krehbiel's reputation extends beyond MSU. He chaired the AVMA Executive Board from 2012-2013 and served as the District V representative from 2007-2013. He is a past president of the American Society for Veterinary Clinical Pathology and MVMA and has served on several AVMA committees and councils, including the Council on Education, Council on Research, and Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities.
Established in 1970, the MVMA Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award is given to individuals who have completed thirty-five consecutive years of active membership, played an essential role in the associations' obligations, while also serving the veterinary community in an exemplary fashion throughout their time in the profession.
