Chandra Grabill, PhD, has been appointed assistant dean of Student Wellness and Engagement at the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, effective May 15, 2016.
In her new role, Dr. Grabill will develop and coordinate programs that support student success, lead the planning and design of student events, serve as the liaison for student groups, and facilitate student inquiries regarding academic support resources and wellness issues. She also will supervise the College psychologist. The Academic Programs and Student Success team has spent significant time reviewing how best to support student success. This new position is a direct result of aligning resources and initiatives with student needs.
“Dr. Grabill’s involvement with the development and growth of students programs as well as her experience as a mental health professional enable her to take the lead in this new position,” says John Baker, dean of the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine. “Her leadership in this area is vital to strengthening the College’s commitment to wellness.”
Dr. Grabill has been the College’s psychologist since 2004. She received her PhD from Kent State University in Clinical Psychology. In addition to providing counseling services to College students, she created the Professional Success Series workshops and the Spartan Vets program, both student success-oriented programs.
“I look forward to working with the entire College community as we assess the needs of our students and build a successful wellness and student engagement program,” says Dr. Grabill. “I am excited to work with such a fantastic team of student affairs professionals and I welcome the opportunity to work more closely with our students.”
