On March 12, Dr. Richard “Mick” Fulton, professor for the Department of Pathobiology and Diagnostic Investigation at the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine, received the Midwest Poultry Consortium’s (MPC) 2019 Outstanding Service Award while attending MPC’s Annual Meeting at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
According to MPC, this award is presented each year to an individual who “exemplifies Outstanding Service to the Consortium and to the poultry industry as a whole.” Fulton was awarded for a variety of contributions, including involvement with MPC’s Center of Excellence (COE) Scholarship/Internship Program, the COE Avian Health Class, and coordination of other classes.
“Awards like this highlight the true nature of what we do here at the College,” says Dr. Srinand Sreevatsan, chair for the Department of Pathobiology and Diagnostic Investigation. “We’re here to advance veterinary education and protect animal and human life. Through his contributions for the College and on his own time, Dr. Fulton helps us achieve these goals each day.”
Fulton is no stranger to service. Last year, he was presented the Meritorious Service Award by the North Central Region of the American Association of Avian Pathologists, which acknowledged lifetime service and important contributions to regional poultry industry and veterinarians.
