Congratulations! We are excited you have been admitted to MSU! You have made a great choice and we look forward to meeting you at New Student Orientation.
What should I do now to help my DVM application?
There is not one specific activity that will guarantee your admission to the DVM Program. The admissions committee looks for well-rounded applicants, so it is important to take advantage of the wide range of opportunities MSU offers that will enhance your veterinary school application. We encourage you to visit the College’s Applicant Selection page for more detailed information about being admitted to our DVM Program.
What factors are considered for admission to the DVM Program?
Diverse experiences and factors are considered for admission to the DVM Program.
- GPA; Including the cumulative GPA of the College of Veterinary Medicine's required math and sciences courses, and the most recent three semesters of college coursework
- File review, which includes non-academic experiences such as veterinary and animal experience, 4-H involvement, community service, club and student organizations, and athletics
- Multiple Mini Interviews
Preveterinary Medicine Advisors
At this time, it is not necessary to schedule an advising appointment. At New Student Orientation, you will meet with a College of Veterinary Medicine advisor and be able to have many of your questions answered at that time.
The College of Veterinary Medicine Undergraduate Student Handbook may answer questions you have prior to the New Student Orientation.
During your time as an undergraduate student at MSU, preveterinary advisors will provide guidance to plan your course enrollments for the first two years, discuss how you can position yourself as a competitive veterinary school applicant, and determine the best time for you to apply to the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine. Welcome to the Spartan family. Go GREEN! Go WHITE!
