The Student Emergency Scholarship Fund is available to all Michigan State University (MSU) College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) enrolled students who face emergency situations. Emergencies eligible for consideration may include, but are not limited to, medical emergencies, family crises, or unexpected financial hardships.
The disbursement is a one-time payment and students must have room in their financial aid budget for the academic year for funds to be disbursed. Requests for amounts exceeding $1,000.00 may be subject to additional review.
Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a currently enrolled Graduate Professional (DVM), Veterinary Nursing, dual degree, Comparative Medicine and Integrative Biology (CMIB), or Masters of Food Safety (MSFS) student at the CVM.
- Pre-veterinary or Veterinary Nursing preference undergraduate students are not eligible.
- Pre-veterinary or Veterinary Nursing preference undergraduate students are not eligible.
- Must demonstrate a genuine, unforeseen financial need rather than routine expenses.
- Have not previously received CVM Emergency Scholarship Funds within the same academic year.
- Students who have previously received a CVM Emergency Short Term Loan are eligible.
Note: Routine expenses or ongoing financial needs that are not caused by an emergency will not be covered by this fund.
Application Process
Students must complete the Student Emergency Scholarship Fund Application.
Applicants must provide a detailed explanation of the emergency and estimated expenses.
Review and Assessment
Upon receipt of the application, The Associate Dean of Student Engagement and Success will review the application as soon as possible. Please check your MSU email for updates and guidance on next steps.
