In her previous role, Dr. Amelia Munsterman worked as a clinical assistant professor of large animal surgery at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's School of Veterinary Medicine. In addition to her new role at MSU, Dr. Munsterman is the associate editor of Veterinary Surgery, an official publication of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Dr. Munsterman earned her DVM, Magna cum Laude, from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She then earned her MS in biomedical sciences from The Ohio State University, followed by her PhD in biomedical sciences from Auburn University. In addition, she holds several certifications from the Integrative Veterinary Medical Institute and the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. She is a diplomate of both the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care and the American College of Veterinary Surgery.

Dr. Munsterman’s research interests are in applied science related to surgical techniques and therapeutic approaches to gastrointestinal tract disease in horses.
