DVM Academic Programs and Student Success

As students of veterinary medicine and nursing, maintaining balance between studies and life can be difficult—especially during a pandemic. A significant portion of the College’s students participated in counseling services. These included appointments for individuals, couples, and groups; the University’s CAPS Connect sessions; community engagement and outreach; and critical incident response.

The College also offered a variety of student wellness events and other opportunities for community enrichment like class lunches and house council meetings. Wellness events included chair massages from the University Club, ice cream socials, and presentations about practical tools for student success and life balance. The College continued to host wellness events after campus was evacuated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These included Zoom workshops focused on strategies, motivation, and connection for veterinary medicine, veterinary nursing, and undergraduate students.
