Liz Gorecki was fortunate to have grown up in the country and learned to love nature and all creatures big and small. She has been Licensed Veterinary Technician since 1982. She worked in private practice for three years before joining the MSU Neurology Service. After working for 17 years with this service, Liz had the opportunity to work in Diagnostic Imaging (1 year), Orthopedics (1 year), and Anesthesia (8 years). In 2012 she helped re-establish the MSU Neurology Service when new clinicians were brought in. Liz’s pride and dedication to MSU is exemplified by being one of the co-founders of the Emergency and Safety Planning Committee and also a standing member of the Values and Infectious Disease Committees. She delivered lectures at national conferences and to veterinary/technician students on nursing care of neurological patients and rehabilitation—long before these topics became more mainstream in veterinary care. She was asked to write a chapter in a veterinary technician nursing book on these subjects. Liz, being an avid beekeeper, is also working with veterinary students to start a Honey Bee Club since their care now falls under the umbrella of veterinary medicine. Liz’s other Interests include Native American Culture (she is an executive member of a non-profit group), horseback riding, country life, backpacking/hiking, and kayaking. She is kept busy with her horse, mule, chickens, ducks, cats, snake, fish, German Shepard Dog, and honey bees.
